Prepping for the Castaway Cay 5k

I think I'm crazy. Actually, I don't think I'm crazy. I'm pretty sure I'm absolutely bananas. Dictionary.com defines insanity as follows:

nounplural insanities.

1.
the condition of being insanea derangement of the mind.
2.
Law. such unsoundness of mind as frees one from legal responsibility,as for committing a crime, or as signals one's lack of legal capacity, asfor entering into a contractual agreement.
3.
Psychiatry. (formerly) psychosis.
4.
  1. extreme foolishness; folly; senselessness; foolhardiness:
Trying to drive through that traffic would be pure insanity.
  2. a foolish or senseless action, policy, statement, etc.:
We've heard decades of insanities in our political discourse.
For the purposes of this blog, we're going to focus on definition 4A.

I've tried and stopped doing the 10k Trainer by Zen Labs numerous times, but I usually quit around week 3 or 4. I noticed this week that my vacation to Castaway Cay and Grand Cayman is in 15 weeks. The 10k Trainer is also 15 weeks. There's a 5k on Castaway Cay that's free, and I'm all about memorable activities that won't cost me money.

Right now, it's looking like my sister, our friend, and I will do the 5k as soon as we get off the boat, and spend the rest of the day at the Adult's only beach, reading, sunning ourselves, and hopefully sipping on fruity cocktails.

We started the 10k Trainer on Sunday, took a break Monday, and I ran on Tuesday. It's super hot outside, and I'm recovering from a sunburn I got at the zoo on Saturday, so treadmill running is the way to go right now. Probably about halfway through, once it starts cooling off, we'll start going to the Wabash Trace to get some outdoor running in, because outdoor and treadmill running are two completely different things.

How is all this crazy, you ask? How many times have I started the 10k trainer, and just stopped? More than I can remember. It's starting to feel a little foolish that I keep going into it, thinking the outcome will be different. The outcome will remain the same until it isn't. Hopefully this time, it'll be different, but we'll see.
